Boycott the RIAA!

News about the Boycott:

News Flash:

Twenty-eight states have charged the Big Five record labels (Capital Records, Sony Music Group, BMG Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group), along with three music retailers (Musicland, TransWorld, and Tower Records), of CD price-fixing. (Wired News)

The full lawsuit document is here.

Yes, folks, it has come to the attention of the nation that the record labels have indeed been ripping us consumers off. It is the personal opinion of the BARIAA that the Boycott was the main instrument in bringing this matter to everyone's attention. Good job, boycotters!

However, our work is not done yet. The RIAA is still pressing their lawsuit against Napster and Scour, and none of the record labels have even attempted to give more of the profits to the artists who earned it. Therefore, what everyone needs to do is continue to spread the word. Start chain emails and ICQ messages. Print out the complete lawsuit and/or email it to everyone you know, along with a little note about the boycott. Go to your local music store and post up flyers explaining the boycott. Don't forget to use the most effective weapon of all: word-of-mouth.

As of now, there are more than 105,000 supporters. Go to Boycott RIAA for details and to sign-up.

If you live in a Portuguese-speaking country, I have a Portuguese version of my site for everyone in your country to read. It is at www.boicote.8m.com.

Free Anti-RIAA stickers are being offered at Boycott RIAA, courtesy of ThinkGeek. Please take advantage of this offer and get those stickers today.

You can buy Boycott-RIAA items at CafePress.com, which would help greatly in spreading the word about the boycott. The money will go towards various boycott activities (such as boycott-riaa.com). None of that money will go to this particular Boycott website or its webmaster.

Remember, if we all take part in this boycott, it will be a smashing success. So go out there and let the RIAA know who is in charge!

Thanks for all the support, keep spreading the word, and peace.

The RIAA must be boycotted!

For at least a decade, YOU, as a consumer of Compact Discs (CDs), have been cheated out of your hard-earned money by various recording companies, such as Sony Music, Universal Records, EMI Distribution, BMG Music, and Warner Records. These companies have been working together to keep CD prices at extraordinarily high levels, and have been sharing a small percentage of the profits with the artists who actually make the music. The representative organization for these companies, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), has encouraged and promoted these activities while instigating lawsuits against all new technology that might change this situation, especially MP3s. Their most current lawsuits are against Napster and Scour, companies that allow millions of users to share MP3s with each other. The time has come for the people to make a stop to the tyranny of the RIAA and its members.

The RIAA must be boycotted!
